Olympus and Panasonic jointly announced that the Micro Four Thirds system took the #1 market share by lens mount in Japan with 19.8% (based on the number of digital interchangeable lens cameras sold in Japan by lens mount):

Micro Four Thirds further expands the possibilities of enjoyment and utilization of video by developing the lineup unique to the joint standard, and currently supports 54 companies including BtoB companies. In 2019, four new models of mirrorless cameras compliant with the Micro Four Thirds System standard were introduced, and we worked to revitalize the domestic market. As a result, we achieved a top share #1 of 19.8% in the domestic market by lens mount in 2019 (surveyed by the Four Thirds Secretariat based on sales performance data of leading camera dealers nationwide)

Video: Container blown into the sea in Tórshavn

Yes, that’s right. That’s a container in the sea. The video showing the container that was most likely blown off the harbour by the storm, which is currently raging in the Faroe Islands, is from Wednesday morning.

According to the people at Tórshavn Harbour and staff at Faroe Ship, the company who owned the container, occurrences like this are extremely rare even with especially powerful winds.

Luckily, no damage was done to the container or to anything else, and the container was quickly brought back on land.

Iceland is known for its dramatic landscapes ranging from glaciers, geysers and hot springs to volcanoes and lava fields––the perfect place to film sweeping epics of all sorts.

Most recently Iceland’s icy landscapes inspired the setting of Frozen II. Will Ferrell will play an Icelander in his latest comedy, Eurovision, which was partially shot in north Iceland and the latest Spider-Man film will begin shooting here later this year.

Iceland has become such a popular shooting location that there are even tours centered around visiting the featured location. In the case of Game of Thrones, fans of the show will be pleased to know that even though the series has ended, they can visit the filming locations for the show, immerse themselves in the lands of the Seven Kingdoms on a Game of Thrones Tour and relive the glory days of the battle for the Iron Throne.

До выхода в 1993 году кинокарины «День сурка», о существовании странного ритуала гадания на весну знали только те, кто его практиковал. Фильм же сделал знаменитым на весь мир не только самого сурка Фила, но и забытый богом городок Панксатони с населением меньше шести тысяч человек. В Панксатони устремились туристы и городские власти довольно скоро зарегистрировали все права на использование образа сурка Фила. С тех пор город, последнее промышленное предприятие в котором закрылось еще в середине прошлого века, живет за счет грызуна-предсказателя.

Подобным же путем решила пойти знаменитая экологическая активистка Грета Тунберг. Которая объявила в своем инстаграме, что собирается зарегистрировать свое имя в качестве товарного знака. «Мое имя и движение #FridaysForFuture постоянно используются в коммерческих целях без какого-либо согласия, — написала шведская девочка, — Это происходит, например, в маркетинге, продаже продуктов и сборе денег людьми от моего имени и от имени движения».

Ну что же, решение Греты разумно. Как говорится: сначала ты работаешь на имя, а потом имя работает на тебя. Проблема только в том, что в отличие от фильма «День сурка», время, в котором мы живем, не повторяется, а идет дальше. И если сейчас Грета Тунберг — это всем известная шведская девочка, то через десять лет она уже не будет никакой девочкой. И с образом возникнет проблема.

Впрочем, и эта проблема решаема. Причем даже не так, как с сурком Филом, который, по утверждению жителей Панксатони, за счет специального эликсира живет уже больше 130 лет. Мы подмигиваем, конечно, но всё понимаем. Но вот теперь международная Организация по борьбе за права животных PETA предлагает перестать мучать сурка, доставая его из норы каждое 2 февраля. А заодно и решить проблему с его возрастом. Причем решить очень просто: заменить животное роботом. Который бы предсказывал погоду с помощью искусственного интеллекта, пользуясь большим объемом метеоданных. Кстати, и внимание туристов к обновленному Дню сурка наверняка возрастет.

Не знаю, как вы, а я снимаю шляпу перед изяществом такого решения. Ведь представьте себе, как удобно заменить роботом Грету Тунберг! Робот не оставляет углеродного следа. Робот не взрослеет и всегда будет оставаться всё той же девочкой с косичками, к которой мы все так привыкли. Робот не устает и сможет посещать значительно больше экологических мероприятий. И внимания робот будет привлекать значительно больше.

А самое главное: его можно выключить.

Заблон Симинтов считается последний евреем живущим в Афганистане.

Раньше в Афганистане жил еще один евреей — Исак Левин, но он умер в 2005–ом году. Оба еврея были знакомы, но между ними бушевала нешуточная вражда: Заблон как то предложнил Исаку перебраться в Израиль, и тот решил что Заблон таким образом пытается завладеть единственной оставшейся в Афганистане синагогой. Мужчины начали писать друг на друга доносы и в ситуацию оказался вовлечен Талибан.
